Westlaw identifies points of law in cases and organises them by topic and key number. Experienced legal editors have read, summarised and classified case law by topic and subtopics that represent specific points of law. Each point of law is assigned a unique number, called a Key Number. When you click a Key Number link, you will retrieve the case digests classified to that particular Key Number. Search all Key Number Topic and Sub Topic Titles using the Title Search to retrieve links to the most relevant Key Number topics and sub topics for your search terms. If instead you want to search the text of the case digests directly, use the Search Key Number System search box at the top of the page (from publisher website).
