A national study of young women who experience physical violence by a partner is reported in this paper. The authors examine the effectiveness of legal protection in preventing repeated violence and compare outcomes after legal intervention from the police or the courts, or both. The results indicate that a coordinated approach which links court protection orders with police intervention may be the best way to protect young women from violence. - Publisher's website.
