Summary:
Recent criminological literature shows that socioeconomic disadvantage and disorganised communities contribute to a neighbourhood's crime problem. The literature also shows that new immigrants may suffer these disadvantages and inherit disorganised communities more often than others. This paper provides a brief analysis of the quality, reliability and content of research and currently available statistics on ethnicity and crime in Australia, and suggests methods of improving knowledge on the relationship of ethnicity to crime. - Publisher's website.
