Costs (Law) -- Queensland.

Baines was the first taxing officer in Queensland. For further ref see Byrnes v James (1889) 3 QLJ 165. His appointment was validated by the Supreme Court Act 1889. He was taxing officer for 42 years until 1932 (see Re price, dec'd 1941 Qd StR 205 at 210. In Re Price, use was made of Baines' notes to resolve a point of practice, when two counsel should be allowed (id at p208)
